Présentation de l’activité :

Au cours des dernières années j’ai travaillé principalement sur 2 modèles biologiques :

• L’outarde houbara qui fait l’objet de programme d’élevage et de réintroduction
• Les grands singes, en particulier les orangs-outans, présentés à la Ménagerie du Jardin des plantes

Récemment je me suis intéressé à une nouvelle problématique de recherche, en relation avec la mission de diffusion des savoirs. Les parcs zoologiques sont mis en avant comme des outils de diffusion des connaissances mais nous savons que les visiteurs viennent surtout pour s’y distraire. Il est donc particulièrement important d’analyser le comportement des usagés afin d’adapter les outils de diffusion.

Dans ce cadre, j’ai co-encadré des travaux de Master sur des études de perception de public et co-encadré, la thèse d’Agathe Colléony sur le rôle des parcs zoologiques dans la reconnexion des citoyens à la nature.

Dans les années à venir, je pense orienter mes recherches dans 3 grandes directions :

1) Perception de public en relation avec la sociologie ou la psychologie de l’environnement, afin de mesurer les rôles des parcs zoologiques dans l'éducation à l'environnement.

2) Cognition et évolution de traits comportementaux (coopération, empathie, altruisme, culture) chez les primates, en collaboration avec l'équipe de Sabrina Krief. Ces recherches ont des applications directes sur le maintien et l’amélioration du bien-être animal.

3) Etudes d'écologie comportementale : sélection sexuelle, compétition spermatique et choix cryptique des femelles, impacts de ces mécanismes sur la gestion des élevages conservatoires et de propagation.
